Review:
Every war brings with it a tragic number of innocent victims and above all many, too many children. That's the purpose of this animation
In Ukraine for two years and since last 7 October, The number of children killed in the bombings or left orphaned by the death of their parents is increasing day by day.
A shocking "bulletin" that should impose immediate peace, but which is instead dramatic "normality"
Children should never live, suffer the horrors of war, instead they are the first to suffer its tragic consequences.
The man , the soldier, humanity in general appears to have extinguished even the glimmer of conscience, trampling on those who swear to defend at all costs: the future of the new generations.
“Arf presented at the Sottodiciotto Torino Film Festival and released in cinemas on the occasion of the Remembrance Day of 27 January, puts this painful issue back at the center of attention, trying to shake off the torpor, at least, the conscience of the spectator
During the end credits you can hear the song "Pace" written by Tony Canto and sung by Simone Cristicchi and children.
The two directors rewrite the story of “Mowgli, the son of the jungle" , moving it to the time of the second war and the newborn instead of being raised by the panther, he is saved by Bianca, the dog who escaped the soldiers' raid.
The child/dog does not speak, it moves on four legs and has rather than talks. Arf feels like a dog and integrated into the community of stray dogs that live outside the city.
Arf embodies the successful and moving integration between man and dog, par excellence the most faithful animal
Arf captured by bad soldiers and imprisoned in prisons , he meets other children for the first time and despite the communication difficulty they manage to find a way to understand each other . They will be saved together in this horror, but made less dark and distressing by simple animation, as colorful as it is incisive.
The strength of kindness and brotherhood are "the weapons" with which Arf manages to escape from prison and above all by cleverly placing the feared Dictator in the minority.
“Arf” visually captures the viewer's eye as well as warming their heart with a cheerful story, joyful despite the fact that a war and the pain and sacrifices of adults loom around the protagonist.
