With Comrade Tito, i inherit (R: Olga Kosanović, AT/DE 2021), Flimmit presents a short documentary recently awarded the renowned Nachwuchspreis International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. Participation in the competition of Diagonal 21 it is part of a section dedicated to the younger generations of Austrian cinema: Olga Kosanović will one day inherit her grandparents' home in Serbia. For part of the family who fled to Vienna during the war in Yugoslavia, accepting this legacy means more than an exchange of property. With grandparents, mother and brother, the director reflects between family idyll and gardening on the paralyzing weight of property and the localization of identity. The film is also present on Fimmit Magda rides a motorcycle at Lisa Hasenhütl (AT 2021), with Maya Unger in an exceptional cast: to impress her ex boyfriend, Magda takes her motorcycle license. But driving is harder for her than she thought. What if it were, broadly, to take the reins of one's life in hand?

S1

Before the festival: the 7 June, Ö1 will broadcast in livestream Carbon and Captivity by Oliver Ressler (AT/CH/NO 2020) e The Institute Alexander gods Glandien (AT 2020), two extraordinary films on very hot social issues: with a work divided into four chapters, Oliver Ressler turns around a site where the oil industry is testing a CO2 capture technology in collaboration with Norway. Carbon and Captivity it is an attempt to make the absurdity of the operation even more visible through cinema. Even the animated film The Institute (AT 2020) by Alexander Glandien chooses an idiosyncratic form to convey a potentially uncomfortable message: statements by transgender activist and natural scientist Brigitte Baptiste on Colombia's biodiversity and the importance of biodiversity, according to which if you want to live together peacefully, isolated species must be protected.
