SCHOOL, 21 MARCH. A CINEMA FESTIVAL TO PREPARE FOR THE DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR THE INNOCENT VICTIMS OF THE MAFIE
FROM 15 AL 19 MARCH, LIGHTS ON MYMOVIES.IT FOR THE FIRST EDITION OF SCREENS IN CLASS FESTIVAL, THE CINEMOVEL AND LIBERA KERMESSE DEDICATED TO SCHOOLS.
FIVE FILMS TO REFLECT WITH STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ON MAFIE, FUTURE AND CITIZENSHIP
DON CIOTTI: "CULTURE IS AN INSTRUMENT OF COMPLAINT AND CIVIL GROWTH AGAINST THE MAFIA. IT IS A DUTY OF THE SCHOOL TO EDUCATE STUDENTS IN NEW FORMS OF COMMUNICATION "
Five stories that measure themselves against the story of adolescence and the use of technologies, the brutality of war, life in the suburbs of large Italian cities, the magic of imaginary worlds. These are the themes and atmospheres that give life to the first Schermi in Classe Festival, the film festival organized by the Cinemovel Foundation, the Free association. Associations, Names and numbers against the mafias and Mymovies.it. The goal is to bring cinema directly to students, teachers and families in the week leading up to 21 March, "National day of remembrance and commitment in memory of the victims of the mafia", established by the Italian Parliament with law no. 20/2017.
A moment of dialogue and reflection for the audience of the event, to which a virtual room will be reserved by 3.000 places where you can watch movies in free streaming every morning and meet the directors at the end of the viewing, the actors and authors of the proposed works.
"Fighting the mafias" - declares the president of Libera Don Luigi Ciotti - "also means feeding on a culture that knows how to be an instrument of denunciation and civil growth. Criminal organizations have always made an agreement with ignorance and superficiality. Moving images represent a universal language available to our democratic commitment. It is a duty of the school world to educate students about new forms of communication ".
"This XXVI Day of Remembrance and Commitment wants to focus on the value of culture as a tool for transforming our reality, growth and empowerment of people. Culture moves consciences, it awakens them from the torpor in which they often recline. It moves responsibility and civil participation, helping to understand the world and to find one's own sense of living and being citizens ”- adds Michele Gagliardo, National Referent for Free Training - «For this, in the fight against the mafias it is a fundamental tool.
In this direction, the opportunity offered to us by the historic collaboration with Cinemovel is a great opportunity. Five films to reflect on the difficulties that go through the lives of many people, place them in the relationship with a social reality that is far too unequal and indifferent, to find a concrete horizon of commitment to change ".

The Festival will kick off on Monday 15 March with the screening of Selfie (2019) Augustine Ferrente, David di Donatello as best documentary for 2020. "Documentaries, animated films and young auteur cinema. The wide cultural offer of this Festival will not be limited to simply viewing the film "- says Elisabetta Antognoni, president of Cinemovel - «but will allow the 3.000 students who will sit in the virtual room to have a moment of exchange and reflection with the protagonists of the chosen works and to approach the date of the 21 March in a conscious and not purely celebratory way ".
«The collaboration with Cinemovel is now a historic collaboration, based on common principles and solid ideals ", adds Gianluca Guzzofounder and CEO of Mymovies.it. "This year we are even more united in a rich one, decisive and necessary proposal of filmic works ".
